Let’s not fall into conspiracy theories and say that everything that we are seeing in Afghanistan today has some kind of one rationale. Not always what happens after an event is its cause, but it may well be some consequence. Of course, what we are seeing in Afghanistan today will have an impact on the world economy, in particular on transport and energy, in the coming years. These are not big words. You just have to dig, sometimes in the literal sense of the word, deeper. And if this issue is raised in our
For almost 50 years, Afghanistan has been at war. Even earlier this territory was called «the cemetery of empires». They tried to conquer it, take control, on its territory there was a confrontation between #the USSR and #the United States. We left. After a while, the United States entered it. And it all ended the same as before. Years of conflict have destroyed the country’s physical infrastructure — roads, power plants, railways.
But today the situation is fundamentally different. Those who have taken power in Afghanistan today declare that the war in the country is finally over. We will not name the winning group, since officially in our country they are on the «black» list.
It should be noted here that the embassies of Russia and China are practically the only ones that have remained to work in Kabul almost as usual. And what is the reason for such calmness? The organization that came to power says it will fight the production and sale of drugs. And there is no doubt that they are successfully organizing this. They have a short conversation in this regard. And where will the new Government of Afghanistan get the money to replenish the budget and rebuild the country after decades of war, devastation, and desperate poverty? It may seem strange to many, but in fact Afghanistan is a very resource-rich country. And there are resources there that are needed by the developing green economy, electric transport and energy. However, all these resources could not be efficiently developed while the war was going on there. And now it is terminated.
Back in 2006, armed with old Russian maps, the US Geological Survey began a series of aerial surveys of Afghanistan’s mineral resources using modern gravimetric and magnetic measuring equipment attached to an old Orion P-3 naval aircraft, which surveyed about 70% of Afghanistan … It was the most comprehensive geological survey of Afghanistan ever undertaken. The data was overwhelming. American # geologists working with the Pentagon team also conducted ground surveys in the dry salt lakes region of western Afghanistan. There, in one place in the province of Ghazni, huge reserves of lithium were discovered. It was only at the first assessment that lithium reserves exceeded those in Bolivia, which is currently considered the owner of the largest known lithium deposits in the world. Then the Pentagon called Afghanistan «lithium Saudi Arabia.»
Also in Afghanistan found gold, copper, cobalt, iron, barite, neodymium, sulfur, lead, silver, zinc, niobium and 1.4 million metric tons of rare earth elements (REE). The country may contain 60 million metric tons of copper, 2.2 billion tons of iron ore, 1.4 million tons of rare earth elements (REE), worth from 1 to 3 trillion dollars. It can be said with good reason that this country, in case of non-resumption of the war, can become a real storehouse and contribute to the development of new industries with its resources.
But who will get all this wealth?
In fact, it is not at all difficult to answer the question «who will get all this wealth.» The answer lies almost on the surface. Of course this is China. Even under the previous, escaped government of Afghanistan, China received the rights to explore and subsequently develop mineral deposits, including lithium and copper. But, the power in Afghanistan has changed, but China’s position has not changed at all, and even possibly strengthened. China, far-sightedly, did not stake on the previous authorities in Kabul, and conducted a dialogue, including with the group that has now taken power. The main thing for China is the implementation of its strategy. And one part of this strategy is the Belt and Road Initiative.
Within the framework of this initiative, there is a project to build a railway from China, through Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, to Iran and Iraq. As I said above, #China has been and is conducting a dialogue with the Pupils (this is how the name of a group banned in Russia is translated into Russian). It can be assumed that China’s proposals will be so good that the «Disciples» will make every necessary effort to ensure peace and stability in the country.
The most interesting thing is that the projected # railway will pass in an area where there are deposits of lithium and other resources. So the puzzle comes together. China gains access to Afghanistan’s storehouses, they will deliver them to the Celestial Empire on their own railway, make goods there (electric cars, smartphones, other electronics), and then, along the same road, drive trains with their products.
war is over . It’s time to make # money and # electric cars!
Now, with a smile, one can recall the theatrical exclamations of those who said that lithium would not be enough for full electromobilization. But lithium, these are not cucumbers from an anecdote about Chapaev. In fact, there is a lot, a lot of lithium. We recently told you that they are starting to mine it.
